Hiking Muddy Off trail Mystic Falls in Indian Canyon Falls trail - This was one of the best waterfall family hikes we have done in Spokane. The trail down to the waterfall takes longer than expected but is totally worth it! Some benches and bridges could use some renovation. The permanent installation marks a great vantage point to see the crashing falls framed by the arches of the historic Monroe Street Bridge.If you want to skip all the walking and would rather sit in comfort, the SkyRide gondola offers a 20-minute fly over for a bird’s eye view. As you leave the nest and head up the Centennial Trail toward Kendall Yards make sure to look back at the falls when you reach a set of bright orange Adirondack chairs.
Off the beaten path ( the way to the waterfall). Nothing too much to talk about. Have been to the falls a couple times but took a more adventurous route this time. Located near City Hall, enjoy a lesson on the past, present, and future of the Spokane Tribe. Make sure you have good traction on your shoes if you plan to hike up the side of the canyon at the waterfall.Was a fun hike. Spokane Unlimited convinced the railroads to donate the property and land to the cause and the train tracks came down for good, the parking lots disappeared. Walking through, you’ll come upon two suspension bridges next to the stately white Washington Water Power building. The river and its crashing falls served as the center of the life and culture for generations.

Don’t be alarmed at the swaying, they are, after all, suspended by cables. So much fun. Beautiful waterfall and cave like structures. I still gave this 4 stars because I know that during the right times of the year the scenery is amazing, and it’s a convenient trail within the city limits! It was a long shot, but Spokane was selected as the smallest city ever to host the international event. Ps. My parents said it’s been like that for years. Was not sure if we could park at Gonzaga because that’s where the start and end point of the suggested loop was so we parked along Post and just made our way towards the Riverfront Park part of the loop.The trail itself wasn’t bad. There was only a small portion up north where I had to make my own trail, but beyond that, it was nice. Take in the metal animal statues that represent the Salish creation myth.

Harnessing the power of the lower Spokane Falls the company brought electricity to the modern city growing out of the ashes of a devastating fire a year earlier. Walk further down the plaza and enjoy the river rushing below. The Spokane Tribe named the falls “Stluputqu” meaning “swift water”. Especially in May when the mountain snow runoff is at its peak. However the views weren’t what I had hoped for. What a great adventure to just get lost and find an obstacle course leading to this secret waterfall and cave! I loved this hike! The new power sources lit street lamps, businesses and streetcars. Walk across it and you’ll find yourself on the Centennial Trail, heading down as it takes you to prime viewing under the Monroe Street Bridge. It was a great scavenger hunt. The Spokane River banks became Riverfront Park, and the Spokane Falls, hidden for decades under industrial chains, were once again revealed. We will return again, especially when said tot starts riding her own bike.Mixed feeling about this trail. It’s easy to find great viewing points, and they make for a great stroll in Riverfront Park and around the city. Some places the path is lined with brush taller than me (6’1”). The trail offers a number of activity options and is best used from March until October. At the time it meant growth and progress, but by the 1960s, the train system was almost obsolete, the population and businesses had moved away from the downtown core, and the powerful waterfall was an afterthought hidden beneath train trestles and surrounded by parking lots and rundown buildings.In 1959 a group of Spokane businessmen united and formed Spokane Unlimited with the goal of revitalizing the downtown core. I brought a friend and pepper spray... was glad it did.A comfortable stroll. Tribes gathered at the banks of the falls annually to gather fish for the upcoming winter. There wasn't a route around the entire park so I made one and uploaded it. Train trestles and tracks lined the streets of Spokane with a train station along the banks of the Spokane River in the heart of the city. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash. From ancient peoples to modern day, the falls have served as the heart of the region both physically and culturally.The Spokane Falls has served as a gathering place for thousands of years and is a sacred place to Native American Tribes.
A low rumble in the distance, a siren song, calling out to first-time visitors and locals alike. I took my time to explore, take pictures, and recover from wrong turns :)Great views of Spokane!

The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and mountain biking and is accessible year-round. Ticket prices are reasonable, $7.75 for adults, $5.75 for children 2-12, free for children under 2. Primarily, the railroad industry. It was AMAZING!

There were a lot of ticks though. In Spring and early Summer the water rushes down at its highest due to mountain snow run off.
